GTR MANCHESTER & CHESHIRE CARDIAC NETWORK TRIALS

                                                                   The Cardiac Network is supervising trials in 10 PCTs in the region.   

 

                                           The results from the first 4 PCTs, covering a 12 month period and 48 surgeries are as follows :

 

                                             >> 3406 patients used the service  >> Of these 1748 audit forms were returned (51%)

 

                                           >> Of these 58% of ECGs prevented a referral to secondary care, (A&E or Outpatients).

 

                               Extrapolating from these audit results, this means that 1,975 referrals to secondary care were avoided.  

 

                            Translated nationally; if all the approx 10,500 surgeries in the UK were to use the service, there would be a 

 

                                                                 saving of over 432,000 hospital referrals - per annum,
