Transmission of ECG Traces

Bringing ECG expertise to every corner of the UK

Fast, secure and simple —
3 ways to send us your 12-lead ECGs

At Broomwell Healthwatch, we’ve made it as easy as possible for healthcare professionals to transmit ECG traces to our expert cardiac team — no technical headaches, no complicated setup. Whether you’re a small GP practice or a busy urgent care centre, you can choose the method that works best for your team and infrastructure.

Each option is fully supported by our team and designed to integrate seamlessly into your clinical workflow.

Option 1

Standard Acoustic Transmission

This is our most widely used and straightforward method. Once the ECG has been recorded using one of our supported devices, the trace is transmitted acoustically using a landline telephone.

How it works:

The ECG machine generates a series of tones (similar to a fax sound), which are sent over the phone line to our interpretation centre.

Benefits:

  • Quick and easy
  • No internet or computer required
  • Minimal training needed
Option 2

PC-Based Digital Transmission

This method allows the ECG trace to be transmitted digitally via a connected PC or laptop. The trace is uploaded directly to our secure system for rapid interpretation.

How it works:

The ECG machine connects to your PC via Bluetooth or a microphone, which then securely transmits the trace to Broomwell via the internet.

Benefits:

  • Digital clarity of ECG trace
  • Simple and secure upload process
  • Integrates easily with existing IT setups
Option 3

Mobile (4G) Transmission via Smartphone

Our most portable and flexible option, this method allows you to transmit ECGs using a paired smartphone and a 4G mobile connection. Ideal for remote settings or home visits.

How it works:

The ECG device pairs with a smartphone, which then sends the ECG trace securely over the 4G network to our interpretation centre.

Benefits:

  • Fully mobile and wireless
  • Great for home visits or outreach care
  • No landline or PC required
